About LakeAtlas

A closer look at the world’s lakes.

Geography you can understand, useful facts you can check, and practical context for a visit.

Who LakeAtlas is for

LakeAtlas is for curious readers and people planning time around a lake. It brings together location, landscape, measurements, ecological context and visiting guidance so that the main answers are available in one place.

What is here now

The current collection has 46 lake profiles. Lake Bled and Lake Tahoe include licensed photographs and detailed local maps. All 46 profiles have geographic articles, branded lake maps, source notes and practical visiting guidance. Search and geographic browsing cover the current collection. The comparison tool pairs lake facts and maps with named access destinations, arrival options, effort and verified mobility details; unknown information remains marked. This is a selected atlas, not comprehensive world coverage.

Ownership and editorial responsibility

LakeAtlas is owned and directed by Zurab Koniashvili. He sets the project’s priorities and is responsible for editorial direction and publication decisions. LakeAtlas is an independent project, not a tourism authority, scientific institute or booking service.

The current articles have been researched and drafted with AI assistance under his direction. An editorial-responsibility credit does not mean he personally visited each lake or independently checked every source. We explain the research workflow and its limits in Sources & Methodology.

What readers can expect

We aim to distinguish measured facts from rounded figures, historical evidence from current conditions, and researched advice from firsthand experience. Photographs and maps help explain the place; neither establishes whether a trail, beach or facility is open today.
